June 2010...

Flaming June is upon us and it's time for World Cup fever in South Africa and a load if irritating weired sounding trumpets. It's also time for the third part of my NWOBHM lives trillogy and although I didn't do Download next month sees me at three festivals, Silverstone for the Formula 1, Draycott for the Rock n' Bike and Knebworth for Sonisphere, it's twenty five years since I last went to Knebworth (Deep Purple 1985) Yes folks I'm that old.... Come on England!!!

NWOBHM Lives (Part 3)
Jaguar… The Old Bell… Derby… 19/06/10…

My NWOBHM lives extravaganza has been curtailed into a trilogy with the unexpected cancellation of the Witchfynde gig due to illness in the band and the double whammy of the NWOBHM celebration at Bilston which would have featured the Tygers of Pan Tang, Preying Mantis and Marseille also getting the chop. Never the less the third and final leg is set to be an awesome night of metal as all the way from the West Country have come the mighty Jaguar a very rare animal indeed in Derbyshire these days. Back in the early 1980’s Jaguar were to be sighted on many occasions around these parts, traveling up from their hunting ground of Bristol to play various venues at Heanor, Alfreton, Mansfield and Derby anyway enough of these reminiscences of my youth and its back to the old bell on Sadler Gate. Having been warmed up brilliantly by the three support bands tonight (Conquest of Steel, ICON and Rock Spock Nixon) all of whom prove that heavy metal is alive and well in the twenty first century, it’s time for the beasts from Bristol to play some power games as Jaguar hit the stage. Opening up with the title track from their 2003 studio album run ragged the volume is deafening and the intensity is high as Jaguar play a set of early songs from the 1980’s mixed with newer material from their two Naughties albums. Dutch connection and out of luck follow next both from their highly acclaimed1983 album power games while sucker from their Y2K album wake me goes down particularly well with the audience. front man Jamie Manton is in a different Universe to the rest of us as he bounces around from time to time on his trusty Pogo stick as well as constantly messing around with the DJ’s decks, that’s when he’s not trying to hang himself by the neck with the drapes at the side of the stage, at one point a voice from the crowd shouts ‘you’re a mental man!’ may the force be with you Jamie. As the crow flies and gulf war syndrome are two more from the last studio album which is all of seven years old now, I hope they get another album out soon and the man to ask about that would be lead guitarist and founding member of the band Garry Pepperd who’s riffs have influenced many metal bands over the years including none other than Metallica. Jaguar’s line-up is completed by Simon Patel (bass) and new boy on drums, Will Sealey who I’m assured by Garry has only been drafted into the band to bring down their collective average ages a tongue in cheek remark as young Will’s procussional abilities are top notch. Two more note worthy numbers in the set are the fox for which Jamie has a costume change as he dons his riding helmet before chasing around the stage after the imaginary vulpine critter and raw deal gets a 2010 mix with some of the lyrics from Gloria Gaynor’s I will survive being sung in prelude to this 1980’s classic song which features some intricate bass playing from Mr. Simon Patel. No Jaguar gig would be complete without the inclusion of their first two singles, axe crazy and back street woman both classics of the NWOBHM era and bringing the curtain down on this evenings performance. What a way to finish off the third leg of this foray into NWOBHM and it’s proof that at ground roots level it lives on not only as a piece of nostalgia but as a growing animal that has influenced metal bands over the past three decades and counting, it surely aint no fantasy… GD.

Name: Hannah Nutter
Age: 32
Height: 5’ 9’’
Home Town: Nottingham
Country: England
Relationship Status: Married to Andy Nutter
Anniversary: March 27, 2004

Tell us a little about yourself Hannah:
I'm in my early thirties, which to me seems crazy as I feel pretty much the same now as when I was eighteen! I spent five years as a catwalk model when I was younger which was awesome. I got the opportunity to travel up and down the country which was a really good experience. To be honest I began to find the modelling industry a little shallow, so gave it up, but I have no regrets :) I met Andy when I was nineteen and it was love at first sight. We have two gorgeous boys called Jack and Billy who are my world. I love to smile, laugh, drink, and dance as much as possible. I really believe that life is far too short to have petty issues or negative attitudes, so I intend on living my life to the very full. I’m a very friendly lady and I consider myself easy going and approachable. I have no time for arrogance, or people who have heads the size of the moon!
Music:
Music is my passion. I love my rock and metal to death and couldn't exist without it. The majority of my time is spent listening to music, dancing to music, writing about music and going to gigs:) you will usually find me at the front of the stage watching my favourite bands kicking arse, whilst having a beer and a boogie! Don't try and stereotype me, because you won’t be able to! I am a trashy, metal head, but I’m a big fan of burlesque and 1940's glamour too. I love my glam sleaze as much as I love really heavy stuff. It has to rock though
Tattoos:
Although I didn't get my first tattoo until I hit 30, I now have two and I’m hooked! I have a cute little skull on my wrist and a classic rose on the top of my arm shoulder. I'm getting my quarter sleeve started in a few weeks. I get inked by Mr Nick Evileye who runs Evileye custom tattoos in Langley Mill.
Films:
Horror films are my absolute favourite, though I do love a good comedy and Classic black and white films. I love cuddling up on the sofa and watching anything with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh from the 30's and 40's. Vivien was an absolute goddess.
Dislikes:
Narrow minded views, bad manners, negativity, dance music and early mornings!
Heroes:
The gorgeous Vivien Leigh, Merle Oberon and the author of one of my favourite books (Wuthering Heights) Emily Bronte. I think Janis Joplin was an amazing lady too. She had so much emotion and passion in her voice and really kicked arse on stage!
